Toni Treadway
Toni Treadway delighted in the discovery of real, live formalist poets reading to the public in the 21st Century at the Newburyport Art Association. There she met Rhina Espaillat who invited her to sit in on the poetry workshop. Toni continues to show up.
Toni had a first poem published in good company in The Flea in 2011. Later, she placed one in The Lyric, and three in Poetry Porch. Her first book Late Harvest came after 15 years of workshops. The title poem was a runner up for the 2019 Robert Frost Prize from the Frost Foundation in Lawrence, Massachusetts. She has been co-organizer of the Powow River Poets reading series at the Newburyport Public Library since 2015. Toni still works with Bob Brodsky restoring old movie film for Public Television documentaries and archives.
